About
Rudolf Belling (1886–1972) is one of the most important German sculptors of the classical modern period and, with his innovative sculptures, shaped the development of abstract and expressionist sculpture in the 20th century. His works unite figurative and constructive formal language in a unique way and are today represented in renowned museums as well as major art collections worldwide.

About Hans Kinkel
The German collector and photographer Hans Kinkel left behind one of the most significant private art legacies of German modernism and expressionist art of the 20th century. His collection comprised works by important artists from classical modernism to postwar art and linked photography, visual arts, and art-historical documents in a unique way. Together with Klapheck, he published the Catalogue raisonné of print graphics from 1977–1980. After his death, a substantial part of the estate was presented in the exhibition “From Kirchner to Baselitz – A Century Heritage: The Hans Kinkel Collection” at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. The exhibition made the extraordinary quality and art-historical relevance of the collection accessible to a broad audience and established Hans Kinkel’s estate as an important testament to German art and cultural history.
