Description from the seller
Elegant antique cigarette holder in 800 silver, characterized by a richly incised decoration in a classical taste.
The front features a refined ornamental composition developed across the entire surface, with dense floral volutes and acanthus leaves arranged around a large central vase/urn motif. The workmanship, particularly meticulous, creates a striking chiaroscuro effect and bestows the object with a strong decorative character.
The back presents a wide central smooth area, probably designed for possible personalization or engraving, framed at the corners by four finely incised floral motifs.
Inside preserves the gilding, a particularly pleasant and typical element of silverware destined for this type of use. It includes the inner stopper and the closure system.
The piece bears the punch “800”, indicating silver of fineness 800/1000, accompanied by additional numerical and maker marks, clearly documented in the photographs. For caution, no attribution to a specific silversmith is proposed since the relevant mark is not fully readable.
Weight: 106 g
Dimensions: about 10.5 × 6.3 cm
Material: silver 800/1000
Inside: gilded
Period: 20th century
Origin: Italy
The object is in good overall condition compatible with its age and use. There is patina, oxidation, small scratches and normal signs of time; inside there are stains and changes to the gilding. These characteristics are detailed in the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
An interesting item of Italian silverware, appreciable both as a collectible cigarette holder and for the quality and richness of its decoration.
