Zippo - Limited Edition - Pocket lighter - Metal

The dark aged silver-tone finish, bold “LIMITED EDITION” engraving and individual No.0686 really caught my eye. The mottled wear gives it a properly used vintage feel, while the numbered design and original Zippo Limited Edition presentation case make it especially interesting at auction.

[Appearance]

This is a numbered Zippo Limited Edition lighter, No.0686, presented with its green Zippo Limited Edition case.

The front has a nicely old-school layout with “LIMITED EDITION,” the individual number “No.0686,” a winged Zippo emblem and the wording “ZIPPO IS THE BEST SELECTION SINCE 1932 U.S.A.” The decorative corner details give it the look of an old advertising plaque. This kind of metalwork has a lot of character when it picks up some age.

There are numerous scratches, rubbing, discoloration, spotting and oxidation-like marks across the surface, with additional wear and small dents around the corners and edges. The finish is noticeably aged and uneven, but the darker patina actually gives the engraved design good depth and a strong vintage appearance. The main lettering and No.0686 remain clearly readable.

The bottom stamp shows the Zippo logo, “BRADFORD, PA.” and the visible date-code markings.

The green presentation case has a white satin-style interior printed “Zippo Limited Edition.” The case and interior show some age and storage wear, but having the period-style presentation case together with the numbered lighter is a nice collector detail.
