Montblanc StarWalker Midnight Black fountain pen, crafted in precious black resin with ruthenium-plated trim, Germany origin, from the Fine 20th Century, serial MBLB5Y363, 14K gold nib, 12 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, in good working order and rarely used.
Description from the seller
We present at auction an authentic concentrate of contemporary design and mysterious allure: the Montblanc StarWalker Midnight Black fountain pen. This line represents the modern and bold evolution of the renowned German maison, conceived for those seeking a luxury accessory with a dynamic, gritty, and absolutely unconventional character.
The body and cap of the pen are masterfully crafted in the famous Montblanc black precious resin, whose smooth and deep surface offers a highly pleasant tactile sensation. The true distinguishing feature of the "Midnight Black" edition, however, are the superb solid metal finishes plated in ruthenium: this rare metal gives the clip, the rings and the structural details a sophisticated dark gray / gunmetal coloring, creating a magnificent and elegant contrast with the black barrel.
A particular mention goes to the grip section, characterized by refined micro-engraved knurling, which, beyond enriching the pen's industrial aesthetics, ensures a firm, ergonomic, and comfortable grip during writing. As tradition for this iconic collection, atop the cap sits the unmistakable dome in transparent resin inside which the Montblanc star emblem floats magically.
Technically, this specimen is configured as a Fountain Pen. The beating heart of the instrument is its precious nib in solid 14K gold (585). As clearly shown by the close-up photographs, the nib displays the warm and natural gold tone: a captivating detail (due to the physiological and partial loss of the original ruthenium plating at the tip, typical of tools used regularly) that attests to its authentic writing history without in any way compromising its extraordinary fluidity and precision. The feeder shots confirm the cleanliness and integrity of the writing assembly.
The overall conservation status of this instrument is to be considered in excellent condition. The precious resin and ruthenium finishes are beautifully preserved, showing only microscopic and physiological superficial marks (hairlines) due to normal resting and natural wear of the materials, details almost invisible at a quick first glance.
