AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Painer Josep Cruañas Fages. Painter born in Maià de Montcal (Garrotxa) in 1942. He is a Catalan painter. At 16 he began his training in Joan Palau's workshop in Banyoles, later becoming a pupil of the painter Sibecas at his Figueres academy. He subsequently moved to Barcelona, where in 1970 he took part in various group exhibitions. In 1972 he held the first of his solo exhibitions in Vic (Gallery Ausart), followed by others in Barcelona, Andorra, Sitges, Reus, Tarragona, Granollers, Madrid, Tossa de Mar, Olot, Girona, Amsterdam, Atlanta USA, etc. He has won several prizes in painting competitions in various Catalan and Majorcan towns. He often painted in Cadaqués and on the Norman coast at Honfleur, using landscape and seascape as pretexts for painting with broad masses of color, impastos applied with a profusion of nuances, textures, glazes, rubbings, and purely pictorial effects that could be compared to those of certain abstract painters. The subject lends his oils or temperas a covertly solid structural order and a poetic atmosphere, preferably in grays and damp environments, such as those Cruañas found on the French Atlantic coast. There are works of his in the museums of Banyoles, Tossa, El Vendrell and Palamós and in the Museum of the Barcelona Provincial Council. The condition of the work is excellent. The size of the work: 46 cm high x 55 cm wide. El Clariana. Acrylic on board. Signed with a brush at the bottom. Owner. There is no damage. Shipping method - by mail.
