Description from the seller
Crypto Comics Special Series - Reconstituting a photo using photos from the depicted comic.
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A fresh reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave”, evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is undertaken on color, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resilience, color stability and a modern and contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
