The shape of the writing instrument is inspired by the paddle Robinson Crusoe used in his attempts to escape the desert island. The cap and the barrel are crafted from precious resin with a brown and black marbled effect, evoking the wood of the raft. The clip is finely fashioned in the shape of a feather, a nod to Crusoe's faithful companion, Poll the parrot. The rings and the tip are embellished with engravings that reproduce the delicate filigree decorations typical of 18th-century book bindings. The cap bears the engraved signature of the author.
