Description from the seller

Antique 935 Sterling Silver Cigarette Case with Polychrome Enamel Painting – circa 1910–1925

Exceptional and finely crafted cigarette case made of 935 sterling silver from the early 20th century, presumably Central European, possibly German/Pforzheim manufacture.

The front is almost entirely occupied by a very finely executed enamel portrayal of a seated young lady. She wears a pale yellow, historically styled Empire dress and sits on an intensely blue cushion against a black background.
The case features a cabochon push button and is fully gold-plated on the inside. The original elastic cigarette holder strap is still present.

Both halves of the case are inscribed on the inner edge with STERLING 935, as well as another marking not clearly identifiable, which appears to read like “L 53.”
