Ugo Nespolo (1941) - Le cinque stelle della Sicurezza

The Five Stars of Safety is a silkscreen print (this is no. 95/100) created for Renault by Ugo Nespolo for Christmas 2004. The total number of copies, numbered with different systems (Arabic, Roman, etc.), but all signed in original by the artist, is 165 on three different papers as shown in the photographed pages.

This copy is signed at the bottom center in pencil; the paper is 320-gram Hahnemühle and the print uses 26 colors.

It includes the portfolio, a small booklet (10 cm x 10 cm, photographed) and an Italian/English summary about the artist. The cardboard box that contains everything is also branded by Nespolo. It includes the original Christmas greeting card (addressed to me, certifying provenance) prepared with various signatures in original (not Nespolo’s, which is only on the silkscreen). Printed by Arte 3 Milano.

Ugo Nespolo’s silkscreens vary in price from €250 to €3,000 depending on size and subject. The multi‑color silkscreens, 50x50 cm squares, in about 150/200 copies, are sold at around €350–€450.

Nespolo has created a decorated Renault 5, some sales catalogs and more for Renault Italia, including this work, which is little known. The round lithograph on a square sheet is one of the forms used by the artist.
