Description from the seller
"Interior with Child" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work presents a domestic interior opening toward the city, created through an intense combination of architecture, furniture, and color. In the background, the small figure of a child appears peering out from behind a door, introducing a discreet narrative element that transforms a everyday scene into an image charged with curiosity.
The composition is articulated through large planes of turquoise blue, violet-blue, and light blue, contrasted with the warm tones of the armchair, the floor, and the red table in the foreground. A large glazed door occupies the right-hand side and allows views of balconies and exterior façades, establishing a visual game between interior space and the urban landscape.
In the foreground, a bottle, a dark vase, and an open book build a small still life that adds depth to the scene. The large rounded armchair functions as an organic counterpoint to the straight lines of doors, windows, and architectural elements. The figure of the child, deliberately minimized within the composition, becomes a small focal point that the viewer discovers progressively.
Visible brushwork, black outlines, and the simplification of perspective bring the work closer to Fauvism and to certain modern explorations of the domestic interior. Color moves beyond a strictly descriptive function to become the main structural element of the painting, with echoes of Henri Matisse in chromatic freedom and in the integration of objects, architecture, and the pictorial surface.
In "Interior with Child," Ernest García builds a luminous and silent scene in which something seems about to happen. The unexpected presence of the child adds mystery and humanity, while the open door and the balcony visually expand the space and suggest the continuity of life beyond the room.
"Interior with Child" will be especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, colorful interiors, everyday scenes, Fauvism, urban architecture, narrative painting, and compositions with strong chromatic expression.
