With this square-format work, Medsan brings the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars to the heart of a Japanese storm print. Han Solo’s ship cuts through the eye of a typhoon crafted like Katsushika Hokusai’s skies, above a raging sea that openly cites The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Down below, wind-sculpted pines and a temple roof with heavy tiles anchor the scene in the coastal landscape of the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.

The treatment imitates the ink wash and aizuri-e rendering, those ukiyo-e prints pulled in the only shades of Prussian blue. The whorls of clouds are outlined with a fine, regular line, inherited from wood engraving, while indigo washes and white reserves shape the swell, the foam, and the oblique rain curtains. Two accents break the monochrome: the vermillion cartouche in the top left, bearing its title in vertical characters, and the orange trail of the re-entry thrusters, the only trace of technology in a world of ink. On the bottom right, the cartouche メドサン signs the work in katakana, and the irregular grain of the edges recalls the washi paper aesthetic.

The mashup brings two adventure mythologies into collision: Edo maritime storytelling, where man faces the ocean, and the galactic epic, where he confronts the void. The Falcon is no longer a science-fiction vessel but a storm bird, a creature from the printmaking repertoire.
