Description from the seller
"Balcony in Madrid" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work depicts a small urban balcony transformed into an intimate and luminous space, where everyday architecture blends with vegetation, color, and a tranquil atmosphere.
The composition centers around a yellow round table accompanied by a simple wooden chair. On the table, a cup and a green vase with flowering branches suggest a moment of pause. The delicate structure of the branches extends across the upper part of the painting, contrasting with the geometric lines of doors, blinds, and facades.
The palette combines fresh greens, bright yellows, oranges, reds, and light blues. Especially notable are the large vertical color bands of the architecture, which provide rhythm and depth. The brushwork remains visible and spontaneous, alternating areas of broad color with quick strokes and dark lines that build the railing and the furniture.
The work connects with Fauvist tradition and with Henri Matisse’s interior and window painting, particularly for the free use of color and the relationship between domestic space and exterior landscape. At the same time, the looseness of drawing and the luminosity recall the Mediterranean urban painting tradition.
"Balcony in Madrid" transforms a everyday scene into a cheerful and contemplative image, evoking tranquil mornings, coffee, and domestic city life. A piece especially appealing to collectors interested in urban landscapes, balconies, interiors, Madrid architecture, Fauvism, expressive color, and contemporary figurative painting.
