Glossy black lacquer, warm gold-tone edges and the small Cartier emblem immediately caught my eye. The honest wear gives it that nicely used vintage feel, and the classic black-and-gold Cartier look is exactly the kind of design that gets attention at auction.
[Appearance]
The lighter has a slim rectangular body finished in glossy black, with gold-tone trim and contrasting silver-tone bands around the upper section.
The small Cartier emblem near the lower front is a particularly nice detail. The base is clearly marked “Cartier PARIS,” “PLAQUE OR G,” “SWISS MADE,” and serial number “82826 P.”
There are scratches, small marks, plating wear and rubbing around the edges and lid from previous use. A noticeable small circular mark is also present on the back. That said, the wear suits the piece rather well and gives it the honest character collectors often enjoy in a vintage lighter.
