Starting in 1990, Mariani, taking as his theme the drapery, provides in Piombi a stylized interpretation of this subject. In 2013 he exhibited at Opera Gallery, which signed an exclusive contract with the artist, and programmed exhibitions of Mariani in Paris, New York and Hong Kong. In September 2015 a large site-specific work entitled Pluto and Dionysus—Homages to Dag Hammarskjöld, a hymn to Peace, was exhibited in the halls of the Museo delle pitture murali di Prato.
