Description from the seller
Original work by Paola Romano (Monterotondo, 1951 – 2021), Roman painter and sculptor known for the famous series “Lune” (Moons), exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Italy and abroad, with works in permanent collections (Fondazione Magna Carta, Sale Urbaniana - Vatican City) and repeatedly auctioned by houses such as Farsettiarte, Casa d’Aste Babuino, and Capitolium Art.
“Luna Rossa” belongs to her most iconic and sought-after series, characterized by relief-rich, material surfaces, worked with a polymer-based technique on a circular panel, where the rough, volcanic texture of the “lunar crust” contrasts with large smooth areas painted in bright red.
Dating 2003, the work is among the early pieces of the series, created shortly before her first solo show in 2005 at the Galleria dei Leoni on Via Margutta, Rome.
