Description from the seller
In this section we present a true cornerstone of institutional elegance, the quintessential writing instrument rendered in its most imposing and prestigious format: the Montblanc Meisterstück LeGrand Rollerball Pen (Model 162) Gold Line.
Characterized by its generous size and prominent diameter (the LeGrand format, clearly more “robust” than the classic Classique format), this pen offers perfect balance and an authoritative presence, ideal for those with large hands or who prefer writing instruments with significant weight and thickness. The body and cap are crafted in traditional deep black precious resin, mirror-polished to create a magnificent and timeless contrast with the bright yellow-gold plated finishes. We find the classic teardrop clip and the three iconic institutional rings, of which the central, thicker one bears the brand’s engraving. Crowning the top of the cap is the unmistakable emblem of the Montblanc white star.
From a technical standpoint, the specimen is configured for liquid ink writing (Rollerball). The cap, equipped with a secure screw closure, protects the nib and can be conveniently screwed onto the end/fell during use. As extensively documented by the photographs showing the pen disassembled, this model uses the specific “LeGrand Rollerball” refills: unlike standard formats, the LeGrand refill has its own front threading and screws firmly into the grip section, ensuring absolute nib stability during writing.
The conservation status of the item is to be regarded as in excellent overall condition. The precious resin maintains a splendid shine and is structurally perfect, entirely free of cracks, chips, or evident defects; only extremely slight and physiological micro-scratches (hairlines) are present from normal, careful, and occasional use. The yellow-gold plating remains intact, bright, and free of oxidation. It should be noted that the lot consists exclusively of the pen, without original box or papers.
