This style of carved wooden pipe (often made from rosehip root or cherry wood) was extremely popular in Europe (especially in countries such as France or Germany) in the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century. The models frequently depicted historical figures, mythological characters, soldiers or rustic bearded figures. It measures 20 cm high, 7 cm wide and 1 cm deep and weighs 42 g. The pipe shows signs of use but is still functional.
