Artwork of a French school with strong emotional impact and clear expressionist roots. The painting depicts a figure trapped behind a dense grille of bars, rendered with bold, vigorous, and distinctly tactile brushstrokes. The dramatic use of color, dominated by dark browns and blacks, contrasts with yellow and ochre accents that delineate the anguished face and the hands gripping the prison, enhancing the claustrophobic sense and the psychological tension suggested by the title.

On the back of the original canvas are the artist’s signature, the year 1989, and the autograph title. The painting is in generally good condition and is presented within a dark wood frame with a thin inner gold profile.

The frame visible in the photo is included in the lot as a pure gift from me and is not part of the sale, does not determine its value, and, given its fragility, is not insured. Consequently, any faults already present on the frame are not noted and any damage to it during transport will not be considered for claims or returns. The wall-mounting system may also be removed. Glass often breaks during transport and can ruin the work. They can be removed on request at no additional cost. Please let me know if you prefer that the work be shipped without it; otherwise I cannot assume responsibility.

In case of return of the package for an incorrect address, unclaimed package, or unpaid duties, the buyer will have to pay for a second shipment and cover the return costs.

I also remind you that, since Switzerland is outside the EU customs area, import taxes, local VAT, and customs duties are the sole responsibility of the buyer and will be charged by the authorities in your country upon delivery. I advise you to inform yourself in advance to avoid surprises. Alternatively, instead of shipping, if you have the possibility, personal pickup in Geneva is always the option I prefer and strongly recommend, as it will eliminate transport costs and ensure maximum safety for the work.
