Historical-Artistic Description and Biography
We present at auction a fascinating wall sculpture by contemporary artist Antonio Bencich, titled "Piet." The work is a vibrant spatial and material homage to the great master of geometric abstraction Piet Mondrian, superbly echoing his unmistakable use of primary colors and the rigorous geometries characteristic of Neoplasticism. The piece stands out for its pronounced three-dimensional character, breaking the flat confines of the canvas to invade the space with a strong and refined visual impact.

Bencich's artistic path, born in Biella in 1949 to an Istrian family, is deeply eclectic. After early beginnings in Milan as a restorer, in the 1980s he began fruitful collaborations with Milanese interior design masters. His true sculptural-painterly vocation matured after a formative stay in New York, where he absorbed the lessons of American Pop Art. Supported also by the proximity of colleague and friend Mario Bucci, the artist devoted himself full-time to his aesthetic research, which today skillfully ranges between metaphysical matrices and a modern Pop vision. He currently boasts a solid résumé of solo exhibitions and participation in national art fairs.
