Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later struck by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continued this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes inhabited by suspended spectral silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences roam through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes material. Through a visual writing built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV and humidity‑resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great long‑term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
