Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later fascinated by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes inhabited by suspended ghostly silhouettes. These indistinct presences, nearly erased, wander through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes material. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the boundary between the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Profile
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
