Description from the seller
Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essential, captures in a few powerful contrasts an identity immediately recognizable. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-inspired aesthetic, the works sit in the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of the gesture. The deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV and moisture-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial work and music, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-songwriter, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
