Description from the seller
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate subjects acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of Legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema, and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an immediately recognizable identity. Created using contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil aesthetic, the works belong to the tradition of street art, balancing spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct wall intervention, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mount. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, strong longevity, color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
