Artist biography: Nguyen Robert, born 1958.
Born in 1958 in Bên Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he is fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that will form the basis of his visual language.

Having always been based in his native region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility intrinsic to Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual power.

Recognized for his ability to transform daily life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Delta Mekong painting.
