A palatial bathhouse that has outlived the empire that built it. Three women stand at the edge of a still reflecting pool set into marble, the water so calm it doubles the frescoed ceiling and the golden columns and gives the room a second sky beneath the first.
The woman in the centre stands with her back to the viewer, nude, poised at the very edge of the water as though the act of entering requires a moment of private ceremony. She does not rush. The bath has waited this long. It can wait a little longer.
On her left, a blonde woman with a loose braid holds a length of sheer ivory silk draped over her body, the fabric so fine it conceals nothing and protects nothing, a garment that exists only as gesture. She looks downward with quiet reverence, as though her role in this moment is not to be seen but to attend.
On her right, a dark-haired woman with a long braid wears a similar translucent fabric wrapped loosely at the hip with a gold chain belt, her upper body bare, a gold armband on her upper arm. She mirrors the other woman's downward gaze with the same unhurried deference, as though both have performed this ritual so many times that their movements have become part of the architecture.
The bathhouse itself is a ruin that refuses to decay. Marble columns veined with age, frescoed walls depicting classical figures in faded blues and golds, a painted ceiling where cherubs drift through a sky that was already imaginary when it was first brushed onto plaster. The golden light that fills the room has no obvious source. It seems to rise from the water itself, as though the pool remembers a sun that set centuries ago and has been holding its warmth ever since.

The artwork explores themes such as the sacred ritual of bathing as an act of reverence rather than hygiene, the relationship between those who serve and those who are served expressed through stillness rather than action, the classical bathhouse as a space where time and hierarchy dissolve in warm water and golden light, feminine presence as both ceremony and architecture, and the quiet beauty of a ritual that has been performed so many times it no longer requires instruction.
