About the work
El Juglar is an original work by C. Del Barrio in which the human figure becomes a space of encounter between music, identity and expression.
The minstrel figure represents the artist as a transmitter of stories, emotions and experiences. The figure is built through geometric planes, gestural black lines and a combination of vibrant colors that fragment and reconstruct the face and body.
The work sits within the artist’s personal language, between contemporary cubism, figurative abstraction and symbolism. The artist uses deliberately imperfect geometry and synthesized forms to create a figure that is not meant to be a realistic representation, but an emotional interpretation of the character.
The contrast between marked lines and color zones generates movement and visual rhythm, establishing a connection with music, an element that occupies an important place in C. Del Barrio’s artistic trajectory.
The work is conceived to allow different interpretations and seeks for the viewer to visually complete the identity and story of the character.
The painting is manually created and constitutes an original, unique work. The composition combines color planes, gestural drawing and figurative and abstract elements.
The texture and the inherent characteristics of the paint application are part of the work and can be appreciated especially in the detail photographs.
