Description from the seller

Italian Genuine Alabaster Table Lamp – Fish-Form Feet – Hollywood Regency – c. 1960

Elegant mid-century Italian table lamp, most likely dating from the 1950s–1960s, made from polished deep red/burgundy genuine alabaster and richly finished with gilt metal mounts and decorative details.
The lamp has a refined urn-shaped body standing on a square alabaster base. The base is framed with gilt metal ornamentation and supported by four highly distinctive fish-form feet, giving the piece a particularly decorative and sculptural character.
Additional pierced gilt metal bands appear around the body and base, enhancing the Neoclassical Revival appearance and giving the lamp a strong Hollywood Regency presence.
The underside retains its original oval label reading:
“COLOUR FAST AND WASHABLE – GENUINE ALABASTER – MADE IN ITALY”
This confirms both the Italian origin and the use of genuine alabaster.
A second original label reads:
“PL Ⓝ – TYPE 106 A”
This appears to relate to the electrical approval/type designation rather than the decorative model itself.
The lamp retains an elaborate period textile shade which appears consistent in age and style with the lamp. The shade is constructed with radial pleated cream fabric, lace sections, metallic trim and a central rosette. Its proportions and decorative treatment complement the gilt-mounted alabaster base extremely well.
The overall design combines Italian mid-century decorative craftsmanship with strong Neoclassical Revival and Hollywood Regency influences.
The exact manufacturer has not been identified, and the lamp is therefore conservatively catalogued as an Italian alabaster table lamp rather than attributed to a specific workshop.
The lamp is currently in working condition.
There are normal age-related signs of use to the alabaster, gilt metal and textile shade, consistent with a decorative lamp of this age. The photographs form an integral part of the condition description.
As with all vintage electrical lighting, inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended before prolonged use.
A particularly decorative example of Italian mid-century alabaster lighting, distinguished by its deep burgundy stone, elaborate original-style shade and unusual gilt fish-form feet.
