Description from the seller
Giuseppe Lauria (1940) – “Palermo: Chiesa di S. Anna” – 2000
Published and exhibited work
Important oil on canvas on a large scale by Giuseppe Lauria, entitled Palermo: Chiesa di S. Anna, created in 2000 and belonging to the cycle “Viaggio nelle città dell’Utopia.”
The work measures 150 × 100 cm (canvas only) and about 164 × 114 cm including the decorated frame.
The painting presents one of the characteristic themes of Lauria’s artistic research: urban architecture is reinterpreted in a suspended and visionary dimension, in which the monumental nature of the church dialogues with natural and everyday elements. In the foreground, the chair, the hat, the drapery and the flowers evoke a human presence, while in the background emerges the silhouette of the Church of Sant’Anna in Palermo.
Published and exhibited work
The painting is published on page 139 of the volume Giuseppe Lauria – Viaggio nelle città dell'Utopia, Bandecchi & Vivaldi, 2000, where the work is reproduced and identified as:
“Palermo: Chiesa di S. Anna – 2000 – oil on canvas cm 150 × 100”.
The work was also exhibited in 2000 in Venice, at the Palazzo delle Prigioni, as part of the exhibition Viaggio nelle città dell'Utopia.
As an additional accompaniment to the work, the buyer will receive as a gift the original copy of the exhibition catalog, in which this specific work is published on page 139 with title, year, technique and dimensions.

Anna, the year 2000, the technique oil on canvas, the dimensions 150 × 100 cm, the publication in the monograph on page 139 and the Venice exhibition are confirmed.
