For this artwork, only second-hand teddy bears were used, sourced from flea markets or rescued from the trash, captured in this way. The piece is sold worldwide to art collectors and galleries, but the bear also frequently appears in the street in various forms. (See photos).

The original stuffed bear was dipped in cobalt blue ink. It was then printed in its entirety on museum-quality paper.

Michiel Folkers, better known as Gieler (1982), began in the late 1990s as a graffiti artist in Amsterdam. Today, he works in his studio, but the authenticity of the street remains visible in his art. His work travels the world and is exhibited in galleries from Zurich to New York. Especially in the United States, his work has become extremely popular in recent years, and it hangs on the walls of several celebrities.

Michiel Folkers is a multimedia artist living and working in Amsterdam. He sells his work worldwide and exhibits in galleries from Zurich to New York. He is best known for his layered works, large canvases in which he blends colorful street posters with spray paint and acrylic. He pulls and collects these street posters himself for each individual artwork and uses them as the base for all his works. In addition to these layered backdrops, he paints, screenprints, or pastes recognizable motifs, such as comics or celebrities (of today or the past), but also large abstract paintings. Equally important, the background is not lost but intertwines with the subject. Each piece is unique and resembles a brick of wall you’d want to hang in your home.
