For this artwork, only second-hand teddy bears were used, sourced from flea markets or rescued from the trash, immortalized in this way. The work is sold worldwide to art collectors and galleries, but the bear also regularly appears in the street in various forms. (See photos).

The original teddy was dipped in ultramarine blue ink. It was then fully printed on museum paper.

Michiel Folkers, better known as Gieler (1982), began in the late 1990s as a graffiti artist in Amsterdam. Today, he works in his studio, but the authenticity of the street remains visible in his art. His work travels around the world and is exhibited in galleries from Zurich to New York. Especially in the United States, his work has become extremely popular in recent years, and it hangs on the walls of several celebrities.

Michiel Folkers is a mixed-media artist living and working in Amsterdam. Selling his work worldwide and exhibiting in galleries from Zurich to New York. He is best known for his layered works, large canvases in which he blends colorful street posters with spray paint and acrylic. He personally pulls and collects these street posters for each individual artwork and uses them as the base for all his works. In addition to these layered backgrounds, he paints, screenprints, or pastes recognizable motifs, such as comics or celebrities (from today or the past), but also large abstract paintings. Importantly, the background never disappears but threads into the subject. Each piece is unique and looks like a brick of a wall you’d want to hang in your home. Each piece is finished with a solid, glossy lacquer coating. All artworks are ready to hang, will be shipped promptly, in highly secure wooden crates, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
