Description from the seller
Crypto Comics Special Series - Reconstructing a photo using photos from the depicted comic.
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth treatment is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a mounted back, printing on luminous white vinyl, double-sandwiched between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and moisture-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
