Description from the seller

Popcorn is an idea that worked
Mixed-media artwork by TALASKY
Framed size: 27 x 27 x 6 cm
Certificate of Authenticity

Cinema has revised almost everything about itself. Silence became sound. Black and white became colour. Flat became three-dimensional, then four. Screens grew, then shrank, then became personal. One element has passed through all of it unchanged: a handful of corn, opened by heat, held in the dark.

These works give the popcorn the one thing it has never had: attention. Every piece is hand-painted, one by one with a hyper-realistic precision that makes each kernel appear almost edible. In return it gives up the one thing it was for. It can no longer be eaten. What’s left is the shape, the whiteness, the air inside it, and eighty years of being present without being noticed. The oldest thing in the room finally gets the seat facing the other way.

TALASKY (b. 1990), born as Gyula Takacs, is a multidisciplinary hungarian artist, graduated architect, and industrial designer. His work blends structural thinking with conceptual expression, using both digital and handcrafted techniques. The artist has received international awards and recognitions in design and art, and his artworks have been collected and sold in monre than 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and North America. He has exhibited his work in both solo and group exhibitions in Europe, including Milan, Helsinki, Berlin and Budapest. Under the artist name TALASKY, he creates bold, pop-up mixed-media pieces that explore geometry, vivid color combinations.
