Description from the seller
"Portrait Under the Sun" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work features a woman seated outdoors, resting her face on one hand while directing a serene gaze toward the viewer. The scene blends portraiture with small still-life elements and a bright garden landscape.
The figure occupies the center of the composition and stands out for the intense coral red of her dress, which contrasts with the fresh greens of the surroundings. On the table appear a green bottle, a glass, a cup, and several yellow lemons—everyday elements that add depth and reinforce the sense of a quiet meal outdoors.
The background landscape is built with deep greens, yellows, and dark brushstrokes suggesting trees, vegetation, and shaded areas. The light seems to filter through the leaves and envelop the scene, creating a warm summer atmosphere.
The brushwork is loose and visible, with a more precise execution on the face and progressively more gestural on the clothing, the table, and the landscape. The expressive use of color and the simplification of forms connect the work with Fauvist tradition and with contemporary figurative portraiture.
"Portrait Under the Sun" conveys intimacy, calm, and a certain sense of suspended time. A luminous work that combines portrait, nature, and everyday life, particularly appealing to collectors of contemporary figurative painting and works inspired by Fauvism.
