Description from the seller
"Tomatoes and Lemons" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work presents a still life with a simple and blunt composition, starring a ceramic bowl that gathers ripe tomatoes and two lemons.
The intense reds of the tomatoes contrast with the yellow and green of the citrus, while the bowl with green and white stripes introduces a graphic element that reinforces the contemporary character of the scene. The tomato stem breaks the geometry of the whole and brings movement and naturalness.
The background of pink and cream vertical stripes creates a decorative play that dialogues with the violet surface of the table. The deep shadow cast by the bowl adds volume and balances a palette dominated by vivid and contrasting colors.
The visible brushstrokes, the defined contours, and the simplification of forms bring the work closer to Fauvist language and to the modern tradition of still life, where color becomes as important as the objects depicted themselves.
"Tomatoes and Lemons" transforms a everyday scene into a cheerful, fresh, and luminous composition, celebrating color and the beauty of the simplest elements.
