"Desayuno" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work presents a table seen from above, transformed into a vibrant composition of foods, tableware and color.
In the center stands out a fried egg served on a large yellow plate, accompanied by a croissant, strawberries and citrus. A bottle with rounded shapes and a small glass complete the scene, distributing the elements spontaneously over the green-and-white striped tablecloth.
The palette combines intense yellows, greens, reds and pinks, creating strong chromatic contrasts. The opened grapefruit introduces an attractive pink circle in the center of the composition, while the small strawberries function as red accents that guide the eye across the surface.
The elevated perspective, the simplified forms and the visible brushwork give the work a contemporary language close to Fauvism and to the modern tradition of still life. Everyday objects cease to be mere breakfast elements to become forms, spots and color rhythms.
