Description from the seller
Japanese Gilt Bronze Box & Brush Pot - Tiger Relief Sculpture - Meiji / Showa Period
### Description
This is a heavy and finely detailed Japanese gilt bronze (gilded bronze) container featuring intricate tiger relief carvings. Designed to serve as a versatile item—such as a box, trinket holder, or brush pot (fudetsuto)—this piece exhibits exceptional craftsmanship with dynamic depictions of tigers set against naturalistic backgrounds. Although compact, it feels remarkably substantial and heavy in hand, offering a robust and high-quality feel.
### Condition
The item is in vintage condition with visible signs of age and handling. There are surface dirt, minor scuffs, rubbing, and wear to the original gold gilding (gilt loss) consistent with its age. Please carefully inspect all photographs for full details, as they form an essential part of the description. Sold as-is.
