Description from the seller
**Parker Duofold Centennial Esparto Fountain Pen – Solid .925 Sterling Silver**
Up for auction is an exceptionally well-preserved Parker Duofold Esparto in solid .925 sterling silver, complete with its original heavy wooden presentation case and cardboard outer box. Combining Parker’s rich heritage with artisanal silversmithing, this flagship model stands out as one of the most sophisticated and collectible modern Duofolds ever produced.
**About the Model & Pedigree**
* **The Duofold Legacy:** First launched in 1921, the Parker Duofold revolutionized fine writing instruments as Parker’s undisputed flagship model. Known throughout history as the choice of world leaders and authors, the Duofold represents the absolute pinnacle of Parker’s craftsmanship.
* **The Esparto Inspiration:** Introduced in the mid-2000s, the Esparto finish takes its name and inspiration from the traditional woven patterns of Spanish Esparto grass. The cap and barrel are crafted from solid .925 sterling silver, deeply engraved with a complex, tactile geometric weave and stamped with official precious metal hallmarks.
**Item Condition & Provenance**
* **Usage:** Exceptional collector’s condition. This pen has spent almost its entire life safely stored in its wooden display box, seeing only very occasional, gentle use.
* **Surface:** Unpolished. The sterling silver retains its original patina and crisp, sharp engraving depth. Serious collectors appreciate unpolished silver, as it preserves the integrity of the hallmarks and original finish. It can easily be buffed to a high mirror shine if the buyer prefers.
* **Functionality:** 100% fully functional. The nib writes smoothly with flawless, consistent ink flow.
**Key Features**
* **Body:** Solid .925 Sterling Silver cap and barrel with intricate Esparto pattern engraving.
* **Nib:** Solid 18K / 750 Gold nib (Fine).
* **Trim:** Contrasting black resin section/ends and platinum/rhodium-plated accents.
* **Filling System:** Converter / Cartridge filler (includes original Parker converter).
* **Packaging:** Complete with its original, heavy lacquered solid wooden presentation box and outer sleeve.
Barrel Diameter: Approx. 13 mm (0.51 inches) Cap Diameter: Approx. 14 mm (0.55 inches) Grip Section Diameter: Tapers down from ~11 mm to ~10 mm (0.39 inches) at the narrowest point
