Cesare Berlingeri (1948) - Piegatura di stelle

A splendid archived work by Cesare Berlingeri that represents one of his folded starry skies, a theme very dear to the artist and to his collectors.

Berlingeri's work revolves around the concept of folding, understood as a physical and mental gesture that unites painting, sculpture, and the memory of time.

According to Tommaso Trini, folding represents a metaphor of painting time, in which the gesture encapsulates and preserves the experience of painting as a mental and bodily act. For Philippe Daverio, the artist's research is rooted in matter as a form of thought, an expression of a Mediterranean culture that recognizes in physical substance a spiritual and poetic principle.

In 1986 Berlingeri was invited to participate in the XI Quadriennale di Roma, in the section Ricognizione Sud – a possible sampling.
In the 1990s he consolidated his presence on the Italian art scene, exhibiting several times at the Mudima Foundation in Milan and taking part in group shows dedicated to contemporary painting.

In 2003 the publisher Skira published a monograph dedicated to him, edited by Tommaso Trini with critical contributions from Filiberto Menna and an interview with Arturo Schwarz.
In the following years he exhibited in numerous international contexts: in 2006 he presented the cycle Corpi at MUDIMAdrie in Antwerp, while in 2007 his works were the focus of a traveling exhibition in Brazil, with stops at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Goiânia, the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia, and the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro.

In 2008 he took part in the 11th International Cairo Biennale, and the following year in the Italian Shape presentation in the 798 Art Zone district of Beijing.
Between 2013 and 2015 he participated in several group shows, including Artisti nello spazio from Lucio Fontana to today (Catanzaro) and Rigorismo at the Italian Institute of Culture in New York.

His works are in public museum collections and private collections in Italy and abroad.
