Description from the seller
We present at auction a genuine masterpiece of luxury writing and the undisputed flagship of the famous German maison: the Montblanc Meisterstück 146 (LeGrand) fountain pen. This iconic instrument combines a majestic presence with unmatched writing performance, representing the perfect fusion of artisanal tradition and timeless prestige.
The body and cap are masterfully crafted in precious black Montblanc resin, characterized by a deep, flawless shine, enhanced by elegant solid gold-plated metal fittings. The aesthetics are defined by the slender clip, the three gold rings at the base of the cap (the central one bearing the sharp engraving of the brand), and the characteristic decorative ring on the end. At the rounded top of the cap, the pure six-pointed white star stands out, the universal symbol of excellence.
The heart of this extraordinary instrument is the magnificent two-tone 14k (or 18k) solid gold nib, finely decorated with elaborate engravings that include the nib’s identification number and the maison logo. From a technical standpoint, the pen features the classic and efficient piston-filling system, operated by the rotating end, which ensures generous and smooth ink capacity.
The condition of this specimen is to be regarded as generally excellent. The pen has been kept with meticulous care: the precious resin is beautifully glossy, the structure is solid and free of notable defects, and the gold finishes retain exceptional brilliance, showing only microscopic and physiological signs of surface wear due to extremely attentive and respectful use.
To further enhance the lot, the fountain pen is offered complete with its original Montblanc presentation box, enriched by an interior molded to elegantly house the instrument. An extraordinary opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs of authorial writing.
