André Lanskoy was a Franco-Russian painter and printmaker, a major figure of lyrical abstraction and the New School of Paris. Born in Moscow in 1902, he settled in France in the 1920s and moved among the great artists of his time. Initially influenced by figurative painting, he gradually evolved toward free abstraction, characterized by colored forms, spontaneous signs, and great gestural richness.
