Mathieu Quenault - Synopsis

This sculpture explores the meeting between technology and craftsmanship, through the dialogue between a form inspired by automotive design and a base of charred wood according to the ancestral Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban. Composed of five alcoves evoking the five senses, its shape suggests a trajectory, a perpetual movement, and the different stages that build our journey. The contrast between the raw material of the charred wood and the precision of the upper form thus translates a reflection on the encounter between digital design, human gesture, and perception.
