Peterson - Pipe - Briar, Vulcanite

Peterson’s System 0 – Shape 312 – Pre-Republic – Made in Ireland – c. 1947–1949

Offered here is a very attractive Peterson’s System 0, shape 312, made in Ireland and dating from the late Pre-Republic period, most likely circa 1947–1949.

The pipe features the classic Peterson System construction with reservoir and P-Lip mouthpiece, combined with the compact and well-balanced 312 shape.

The pipe has been carefully restored with respect for its original shape, proportions, markings and vintage character.

Restoration included:

* Chamber carefully reamed and thoroughly cleaned
* Peterson System reservoir thoroughly cleaned
* All airways and internal passages thoroughly cleaned
* Vulcanite stem deoxidised, carefully sanded, sanitized and professionally polished
* Stem correctly realigned
* Stummel carefully cleaned and lightly refinished to refresh the appearance and enhance the natural grain
* Finished with several layers of carnauba wax for protection and a deep natural gloss

The briar displays attractive grain and now has a warm, rich finish while retaining the character expected from a vintage estate pipe.

The rim still shows some normal signs of age and previous use. These have intentionally not been aggressively removed in order to preserve the original bowl height, shape and proportions.

The nickel ferrule carries the traditional Peterson markings.

This is a very presentable and characterful example of an early Peterson System pipe, suitable for both the collector and the smoker who appreciates vintage Irish craftsmanship.
