Gerriet Postma, artist's name Gerriet, (Twijzelerheide 1932 - Groningen 2009) was a Dutch painter and visual artist.
Postma could be described as a fierce man who made intense paintings with paint explosions and clusters of color.
His motto was: 'Live as I paint, paint as I live. I am only paint' (text by Simon Vinkenoog. A copy of the text can be supplied if desired, see photo).
This abstract painting on canvas is from around 1985 and still features a then-typical red accent (see photo).
The canvas has been professionally re-stretched very recently and the 'old' nail holes on the side have been left visible (see photo).
Hand-signed on the bottom left.
Dimensions are 60 x 50 cm.

Postma was te omschrijven als een hevige man die heftige schilderijen maakte met verfexplosies en kleurkluwens.
Zijn lijfspreuk was: 'Leef zoals ik schilder, schilder zoals ik leef. Ik ben alleen maar verf' (tekst van Simon Vinkenoog. Kopie van de tekst kan desgewenst worden meegeleverd, zie foto).
Dit abstracte schilderij op linnen is van om en nabij 1985 nog met een toentertijd typerend rood accent (zie foto). Het doek is zeer recent opnieuw professioneel opgespannen en de 'oude' spijkergaatjes in de zijkant zijn daarbij zichtbaar gelaten (zie foto).
