Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through subtle reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have left their mark on history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an immediately recognizable identity. Created with contemporary digital tools and then transferred into a stencil-like aesthetics, the works belong to the street art tradition, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct wall intervention, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with UV-resistant and moisture-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
