"L'Ascenseur" takes place inside a vintage brass hotel elevator at an hour when the lobby has emptied and the corridors have gone quiet and the only people still moving through the building are the ones who have reasons not to be in their rooms.

A young woman in a red evening dress stands inside the elevator with her back to us, one finger on the floor button, her dark hair gathered in a loose chignon that exposes the entire length of her bare back where the dress opens to the waist. She does not hesitate. She does not look behind her. The button has been pressed. The decision was made before she stepped inside.

On the other side of the brass concertina gate, a man in a dark suit stands in the corridor. His hand rests on the gate, not pushing, not pulling, simply touching the metal that is about to separate them. His face is half-lit by the warm amber glow of the elevator interior, the other half lost in the shadow of the hallway. He watches her. She knows he watches. The gate is closing.

The brass panels of the elevator reflect everything in distorted gold: her red dress, his dark suit, the warm light, the space between them that grows smaller with each second as the gate folds shut. In a moment, she will rise and he will remain. The elevator will carry her upward and the corridor will keep him where he stands. Whether he did not step in or she did not let him enter is a question the building will never answer.

This artwork is part of the Glamour Noir series, a collection of figurative compositions exploring nocturnal atmospheres, cinematic tension, and the silent narratives between men and women in spaces where light reveals as much as shadow conceals.

The artwork explores themes such as the architecture of separation, desire expressed through restraint rather than contact, the elevator as a vertical threshold between one version of the evening and another, and the particular power of a woman whose back is turned because she does not need to see what she is leaving behind.

T. Pimenta is a Portuguese artist whose commitment to creating visually striking artworks seeks to develop pieces capable of establishing visual presence and emotional connection with viewers and collectors.
The creative process begins with an initial conceptual construction, where the central narrative and emotional direction of the composition are defined. Subsequently, the artistic vision is developed through Adobe tools, digital construction processes and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), adding depth, texture, light and structural refinement.
His approach combines traditional artistic sensibilities with contemporary digital techniques, allowing the exploration of different visual languages and the continuous expansion of creative possibilities.

Each artwork additionally receives a manual finishing intervention through an individual hand-applied artistic varnishing process, designed to reinforce luminosity, visual depth and material presence.

Signature: Hand-signed by the artist, T. Pimenta, on the reverse.
Certificate of Authenticity: Accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity (COA), confirming the authenticity and originality of the artwork. The certificate may be provided to the auction winner in physical or digital format, upon request.
