Lezende vrouw is a 1970–1980 oil painting by Dutch artist Willem Haenraets (born 1940), signed, original edition, sold with frame, a portrait with frame dimensions 111 × 101 cm, in reasonable condition.
Description from the seller
This atmospheric painting shows a young woman sitting in a relaxed pose on the edge of a bed or divan, surrounded by subtly depicted floral arrangements. The composition is rendered in a soft, light color palette of cream, pastel pink, blue-green, and warm skin tones. With a loose, impressionistic brushwork, the artist lets parts of the figure and her surroundings blend almost into each other, while the face is more finely worked and thereby immediately draws attention. The diffuse light and the seemingly translucent paint layers give the scene a romantic and dreamy atmosphere, characteristic of the elegant figurative painting of Willem Haenraets.
