Paolo Masi (Florence 1933) after his early informal experiences of the 1950s, in the 1960s began to work by “transforming” the materials. In 1974 his “analytical attention” shifts to the “Weavings” (stitched canvases) and especially to packing cardboard sheets, which he treats with various painting techniques and beyond, to develop in an absolutely personal way the structure of that poor material.
