Biography of the painter Nguyen Robert 1958.

Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, a genuine village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the shapes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that will form the basis of his visual language.

Based in his homeland region throughout his life, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecturally-oriented style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while maintaining a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.

His dual heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and bold contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul imparts softness, spirituality, and fluidity to his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating works of great visual power.
