Description from the seller
Ancient mortar with handle – solid cast brass – 19th century – 2.5 kg
Description:
Magnificent antique mortar from the second half of the 19th century, made of solid cast brass and accompanied by its handle or pestle.
This is a piece especially sturdy and heavy, with a total weight of approximately 2.5 kg, characteristic of the old mortars made in cast metal.
It presents a traditional shape with a widened rim, stable base, and simple decorative turned elements. The handle, also of cast brass, preserves its original shape.
The surface retains an attractive natural patina acquired over time, as well as marks, small scratches, irregularities and signs of use typical of its age. Inside you can observe traces of oxidation and a greenish patina characteristic of copper alloys.

Approximate measurements:
* Mortar height: 10 cm
* Maximum diameter: 13 cm
* Interior depth: 7 cm
* Length of the handle/pestle: 21 cm
