Joseph Beuys, Signiert – 20DM-Geldschein „Kunst = KAPITAL“ – hochwertig gerahmt is a 1980 limited edition conceptual artwork in mixed media on a German 20 Deutsche Mark banknote, measuring 22 by 37 cm and in good condition.
Description from the seller
A special and characteristic conceptual work by Joseph Beuys, executed on an original 20 Deutsche Mark banknote.
The banknote is prominently hand-signed by Joseph Beuys with black felt-tip marker and annotated with the handwritten text: “Kunst = KAPITAL.”
By signing real money and pairing it with this famous statement, he transformed an everyday means of payment into a conceptual work of art.
The assertion “Kunst = Kapital” is directly connected to Beuys’s ideas of art, creativity, and society. For Beuys, true capital did not consist solely of money or material possession, but above all the creative and intellectual potential of human beings. In his view, art and human creativity could be a force for social change.
The bill is professionally framed, floating on cream-colored linen mounted, in a handmade wooden frame with Plexiglas Optical HC.
Frame size: approx. 22 × 37 cm.
